Epigastric Hernia - Part 2

There were floors to sweep and wash; carpets to vacuum and clean. A dog run to construct and some way to water the ducks and chickens without using 5 gallon pails. Coop fence to mend and a door to fix. Bedding and couch covers, along with regular laundry to wash and the kitchen to be put in order. The chance of someone coming and helping me out for a couple of days when surgery occurred, would mean the two spare rooms to put to rights.

I was planning on steaming the carpets anyway. Four dogs and a hobby farm are not favorable to carpeting. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday I swept and washed, vacuumed and cleaned. I still had 3 or 4 throw rugs to finish off on Monday, and then it was tackle the rest of the laundry, plus the other things. Big C was due home on Tuesday night, likely around supper time, another push to get some things under control.

I got up Monday, saying to myself how nice everything looked, all washed and clean smelling. Now was the time to ‘get organized!’ If everything was in its place, it should remain there, or be put back there. The phone rang at 8am and I was scheduled for surgery on Thursday at 10:30 am, and could I please meet with the pre-op nurse at 12:30pm today? Wahhh!!! Yeah, I guess!

The steam cleaner wouldn’t cooperate to do the last of the carpets. Oh well, figure that out later, and get organized to go into CR. Extra pet food and animal grain was needed. I did not get home till after 4pm, waiting for blood work to be done.

Tuesday and the final clean up before BC comes home. Straighten up all three bedrooms, bake buns and bread and decide what to feed him when he arrives. I had a clean kitchen, a clean hallway, carpets that smelled like home and not a barn, and three clean bedrooms. I was feeling quite on top of things and saying to myself, ‘by George, this looks great and will be easy to keep tidy.’ No more with the piles of dirty dished, and stuff just dropped. If I can only do light duty for 4-6 weeks, the less mess to start with, the easier it will be.

We shall have to take the car to CR on Thursday, because the Ram will be too big for me to clamber into. So, on Wednesday, while I fixed up a dog pen in the back yard, fixed the chicken coop door and mended the fence, and constructed some kind of duck pond, the contents of the car were disgorged into the house. BC came out and asked what should be done with the animals, and I showed him the hose hook ups for the water. I said he would have to fill the chicken coop feeders before he went back to work as 50 lb bags were too much for me. Banking had to be brought up to date on the computer, e-mails checked and answered and we ate around 6pm. Of course, I was allowed nothing after 10pm, but I could have black tea before 9am in the morning.

I did last minute washing up, putting away and getting my stuff ready for tomorrow. It was MJ’s day for doing groceries and I had arranged with him that we would pick him up at 9am, drop him off at the grocery story while BC dropped me off at the hospital. BC would come home and the hospital will call when I am ready to come home, as there was a chance I may be kept overnight.

I was thinking that this was going to be a pleasant few days with BC home.
